The Muslim Coalition of ISAIAH played a role in advocating for equitable family leave, providing up to 20 weeks combined leave with progressive wage replacement and job protections. This benefits East African and Muslim communities, allowing low-income families, especially large ones, to care for loved ones without risking their jobs.
The Muslim Coalition of ISAIAH, along with other groups, supported the creation of a new Department for Children, Youth, and Families, enhancing childcare assistance and making COVID childcare stabilization grants permanent. This initiative aims to provide better support to Muslim minority families, especially those needing accessible childcare and involved in minority-owned businesses. The new department will also consolidate youth investments and programs previously spread across various state departments.
The Muslim Coalition of ISAIAH helped push for automatic voter registration, voter protection from intimidation, language support and access to voting education. This particularly benefits non-English speaking East African and Muslim families, ensuring they can vote without harassment.
The Muslim Coalition of ISAIAH supported BBCC and the restore the vote coalition to restoring voting rights to 55,000 Minnesotans, including many in the Muslim and undocumented communities, empowering them to fully participate in civic life.
The Muslim Coalition of ISAIAH worked with others and played supportive role to restore driver's licenses for undocumented community members, allowing them to legally drive, work, and access critical services. This resulted with many working and driving for ride share companies.
The Muslim Coalition of ISAIAH fought for the $1 billion investment in affordable housing, creating new rental assistance programs and first-time homebuyer grants, including no-interest options. This helps Muslims who avoid interest in buying homes, supporting financial stability.
Muslim coalition with partners and other bases in ISAIAH secured the country’s best Child Tax Credit, up to $1,275 per child for families making under $65,000, cutting childhood poverty by one-third. This significantly benefits East African and Muslim families with many children.
Muslim coalition fought with KCOU to secure Funding and increase the CCAP for childcare providers and small minority businesses, helping Muslim-owned childcare services by raising reimbursement rates and increasing support for minority entrepreneurs.
